Here comes the rain again....

to quote the 80's Eurythmics song. It ruined my Mothers Day outing to the local gardens and has literally dampened my spring. The entire state is waterlogged and the weather reports predict flooding, flooding, flooding. Some areas of the state are already experiencing floods and the snow pack hasn't melted yet, meaning...all that water has yet to come off the mountain. Josh has been on sandbag duty at work. He's been looking at the bright side and  is happy that he has not had to turn on the sprinkler clocks yet and that all of his school grounds are green. Mother Nature is helping out in that way at least.

In spite of the weather I had a fabulous Mother's Day. Josh and the kids brought me breakfast in bed and the kids gave me beautiful handmade gifts that they had made from paper and string. Since we couldn't go to the gardens in the rain, Josh took us out for dinner and a movie instead. Josh and I went to see True Grit, which is a new version of an old John Wayne movie. Josh also gave me beautiful red Geraniums to brighten my day. I am truly blessed.

The sun did make a grand showing for Taige's 11th birthday on Friday. Since we had invited a few boys over for a campout in the backyard I was very glad the sun did decide to make an appearance. Otherwise the campout would have been a camp-in. We took them all to the Children's Discovery Center where they explored, then we came home and roasted hot dogs, set up the tent and the kids played Ghost in the Graveyard until we had the neighbors yelling for us to be quiet. It was all worth it. Taige had a wonderful birthday and really enjoyed all the attention and gifts (right now he is listening to his "new" iPod Touch that he bought with his birthday money).

The rain is back today and I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever stop. Even though it's almost June, it feels as if summer is still very far away. Maybe tomorrow the sun will decide to make another appearance and help us all dry out a little. Until then we'll attempt to keep dry and be happy that we haven't had to turn on our sprinklers yet.
