Whose idea was this?

Timber, 7 weeks old
Wow, having a new puppy in the house is almost like having a toddler. They eat everything they can reach, they piddle wherever they happen to be, and they whine during the night. So far our new little Border Collie has gotten into all kinds of mischief. No shoe is safe unless hidden behind closed doors, no carpet is either. And when we were painting the back fence he ended up with redwood colored whiskers and paws. After cleaning up messes in the bathroom on a daily basis for two weeks and then coming home today to find stuffing strewn throughout the house from a  stuffed animal that had been chewed, I had to ask myself.....whose idea was it to get a dog?  Oh yeah, it was MINE! However, despite all the hassle, he is really fun to have around and who can resist that cute little face?

Okay, so that last bit was actually written quite a while ago and I just realized that I never published it. Not much has changed with the pup except he is getting bigger and more energetic. We are settling into a routine (somewhat). I am in charge of feeding, Josh is in charge of daily training( he knows up, sit, and shake), and the kids get him all excited until we can no longer stand him, so we all take him for a walk. The walks are the best part of having a dog. Josh and I have become very sedentary lately and having to walk the dog every day has gotten us up and out of the house. We have discovered many new hiking spots not far from where we live, one in particular follows the ridge of the mountains and there are spectacular views of the Great Salt Lake all along the trail.
